Lovely Antique Georgian Mahogany Chest of Drawers.
 
This chest provides 3 good sized drawers, all of which glide smoothly and features it’s original brass hardware and a lovely decorative frieze upstand.
 
Chests of drawers, also known as dressers or bureaus, became popular in the late 17th and early 18th centuries as furniture evolved to accommodate changing storage needs. They offered a more organized and accessible way to store clothing and linens compared to earlier chests and armoires. The development of drawer slides and hardware significantly improved their functionality and design.
 
This particular chest, with its mahogany construction, brass hardware, and decorative top, likely dates from the Georgian or Regency period in Britain. These eras were characterized by elegant designs, fine woodworking, and the use of rich woods like mahogany.
