Lovely Antique Edwardian Marquetry Inlaid Mahogany Bureau Desk With Storage & Key.
 
Produced during the reign of King Edward VII (1901-1910), this period often represents a continuation of late Victorian styles with a lighter, more elegant touch. Mahogany was a popular choice for high-quality furniture, often enhanced with satinwood or other decorative inlays.
 
These pieces were designed to reflect the refined tastes of the upper and middle classes.  Sheraton Revival pieces, inspired by the designs of Thomas Sheraton, were characterized by their neoclassical motifs, including urns, swags, and floral patterns. These designs oftenincorporated contrasting veneers and delicate marquetry to create visually appealing surfaces. The combination offunctional design with decorative elements made these bureaus a staple in many Edwardian homes, serving both as a writing surface and a storage unit.
